Scrabble: Get Involved with Scrabble
The School Scrabble Program
A SCRABBLE board game in the classroom? Of course! For years, teachers have known that SCRABBLE is a fun and innovative way for kids to develop vocabulary, spelling, math and spatial relation skills.
In 1992, School SCRABBLE became available nationwide. Now, more than a half million kids play SCRABBLE in over 20,000 classrooms nationwide using this program. And 95% of the teachers surveyed say the program is a good value and a solid, innovative new teaching tool.
Our program provides an educational foundation without bogging students down with the usual homework assignments. School SCRABBLE reaches out to the most diverse audience and inspires curiosity and learning and often gives a voice to students who may not otherwise have one.
To encourage SCRABBLE playing in the classroom, Hasbro offers teachers a specially-priced School SCRABBLE Kit. Each kit costs $95 and includes 6 specially designed wooden SCRABBLE boards, 12 racks, 6 sets of tiles and 6 tile bags plus the most current word source, The Official SCRABBLE Players Dictionary, Fourth Edition.
The National School Scrabble Championship
The program holds a National Championship every year for teams between grades 4 and 8. Teams from all over the country to participate in the multi-day event that includes 8 rounds of competition and fun on-site events. The 2013 champions took home $10,000, the champions trophy, and a great selection of Hasbro Games. [Check back soon for details]
Score Big with a SCRABBLE Fundraiser.
Why should you “think SCRABBLE” when your organization wants to host a charitable event? Because there’s more to fundraising than simply raising funds. While generating income is the ultimate goal, you’ll need to create a fundraising vehicle that motivates volunteers, is easily executed, grabs the public’s attention and gets people to participate. Hosting a SCRABBLE event is a way to accomplish all of these objectives.
