PLAN A BIRTHDAY PARTY

At PLAY-DOH brand we know that busy parents like you are always short on time. But planning a memorable birthday party doesn't have to take a lot of work. All you need are a few ideas - and plenty of PLAY-DOH modeling compound!
Plan a Birthday Party with PLAY-DOH compound in 5 easy steps:
Decide on a theme for your party.
Here are a few ideas:
  • Princesses
  • Pirates
  • Animals
  • Games
Make PLAY-DOH compound the main attraction.
Set up enough tables to seat 4-6 children per table with adequate workspace. Card tables or picnic tables are perfect. Cover the tables with disposable/plastic tablecloths and set up lots of PLAY-DOH compound and PLAY-DOH play sets. Place party hats at each spot to designate where children can sit.
Choose party activities. Here are a few ideas:
Hasbro
PRINCESSES

Children make pretty princess jewelry out of their favorite sparkly PLAY-DOH colors. "Gold" necklaces with heart-shaped "rubies" and "diamonds", or beautiful pearl bracelets and rings.
Materials Needed: Shimmer PLAY-DOH compound, string (optional), and Imaginations
Activity: Children can make the entire jewelry "object" out of PLAY-DOH compound, or mom can provide string and help children attach their "gems" and wear them! Just make a ball and pinch them around the string. If you have plastic tiaras, they can even decorate the tiaras with PLAY-DOH compound.
Hasbro
PIRATES

Children work together to sculpt a pirate
Materials Needed: PLAY-DOH compound, picture of a pirate
Activity: children split up the pieces of the pirate (eye patch, peg leg, parrot on shoulder, body), lay the pieces out on the table, and work together to makeĆ¢€™ their own pirate!
Hasbro
ANIMALS PIN THE TAIL ON THE PLAY-DOH DONKEY

Children try to pin a paper tail on a PLAY-DOH donkey
Materials Needed: PLAY-DOH compound, Imagination, Paper
Activity: Children work together to make a large donkey or other favorite animal out of PLAY-DOH compound, (see Fresh Ideas! for ways to make animals) leaving off the tail. A grown-up holds the donkey in the center of the table while children take turns closing their eyes and trying to stick paper tails onto it (in the right place!)
Hasbro
FUN AT THE FARM

Children create their own farm
Materials Needed: PLAY-DOH compound, Imagination
Activity: Children create a farm by pretending to be their favorite animal and sculpting that animal out of PLAY-DOH compound, building their pen, feeding them, and playing with other animals.
Hasbro
TIC TAC DOH

Children play Tic-Tac-Toe with PLAY-DOH compound
Materials needed: PLAY-DOH compound, Imagination
Activity: Children make a 3-D tic tac toe board out of PLAY-DOH compound and play with their personalized PLAY-DOH x's and o's.

Looking for more things to do? Try integrating one of our Fresh Ideas!.
Set up a PLAY-DOH gallery.
Create an area where kids can place their PLAY-DOH creations to show off to Mom or Dad when they get picked up from the party. Having kids arrange their creations in the gallery is a good way to transition between activity time and cake or gift time. Let kids take their "art" home with them, or take photos to make them last.
Integrate other creative activities.
Give kids other outlets for creativity, too. Set up one table with paper, crayons and markers and another with paper, sponges & paint.
Here's a helpful PLAY-DOH shopping list for a party of 10-12 kids:
QTY ITEM
  • 12 Mini tools
  • 14-4 Packs
  • 12 Case of Colors
  • 12 PLAY-DOH Birthday Bucket
Party Favors - Great to give away after the party's over!
