BUILDING YOUR HEROSCAPE BATTLEFIELD
It’s the “scape” in Heroscape. And it’s what makes a game of Heroscape as much fun to set up as it is to play.While you can play a game of Heroscape on pretty much any kind of battlefield, the battlefields featured in your game guides are created with several factors in mind:
Location: Where in Valhalla will the battle take place? Is it dry? Hilly? Are there lakes, rivers or swamps? Are the warriors on a frozen tundra? In a lava pit or jungle? Not only do terrain tiles (for example, sand, grass, rock, or water) affect the movement of your figures; hills, cliffs, ruins, trees and more can affect how they attack and defend in battle.
Victory Conditions/Special Powers: The terrain in most game scenarios is designed to make victory a challenge. That’s why you’ll always need to keep the terrain in mind when chosing Heroscape figures for your Army. In the Master Game of Heroscape, figures have special powers and abilities that allow them to “break the rules” while moving and battling. Some Heroscape figures can “fly” or “leap” over cliffs and walls. Other Heroscape figures can move quickly through water, ice and lava. And when battling, some figures have special attacks that can wipe out several foes at once!
Wow! The wow factor in building a battlefield in Heroscape is deserving of special mention here. Rather than building Heroscape battlefields “by the book,” set your imagination loose and create your very own custom-built masterpiece!
HEROSCAPE MASTER SET TERRAIN
In the original Heroscape Master Set Rise of the Valkyrie, you’ll find 85 link-and-stack terrain tiles of grass, sand, rock and water. Heroscape tiles come in single, double, and multiple hex sizes that allow you to build modular, multi-level battlefields with ease. You also get 2 wall ruins that can act as barriers or hideouts.Heroscape Master Set 2, Swarm of the Marro, includes an additional 75 terrain tiles, and introduces swamp water tiles and a large Marro Hive. All terrain features in Heroscape are compatible with those in the original Heroscape Master Set. Combine two or more Heroscape Master Sets to create a super-sized Heroscape battlefield for any number of players!
HEROSCAPE EXPANSION SET TERRAIN
Small and large expansion sets offer terrain and architecture not found in the Master Sets: lava and molten lava tiles; snow and ice tiles; glacier mountains, trees, towers, bridges, roads, and more. Mix and match terrain to expand your Heroscape horizons and truly customize your battlefields!
