Show Mom how much you care - on Mother's Day or any time of the year. These ideas are great for honoring Dad, grandparents, and other special people, too.
Does Mom always seem to read your mind? Now it's time to read hers! Download our Quirky Questions and print a copy for each person in the family. Before dinner, have everyone fill out the sheet with the answer they think the guest of honor will give. Have everyone share their guesses at dinner, and then ask Mom to reveal her answers. You're sure to be surprised by what you'll discover!

Make a list of Mom's favorite songs, the special tunes you know she loves. Give her a seat of honor - if you like, you can even decorate it with balloons, streamers, a feather boa, or other fun things around your house. Next, take turns humming the tunes (using no lyrics or gestures) while she tries to guess the songs. It's impossible not to laugh! Want to give her a memento of the event? Make a mixed CD of the songs on your list!
Have everyone create a piece of artwork for Mom - a portrait of her, a picture of an event you shared, or a drawing of something she likes. Make sure each piece includes the artist's name and the title of work. Display the pictures as a "gallery," give Mom a tour, and have each artist talk about their piece. After the event, make a scrapbook with the pictures and give it to Mom as a keepsake.

"We always plant something for Mother's Day. Two years ago it was a honeysuckle vine that blooms right next to our patio and smells wonderful. My husband will often build a new garden bed or raised bed for me. My mom and I go cherry picking and make wonderful pies. We have the best time talking and cooking and telling old family stories. When everyone eats the pies, they agree we are two great moms!"
"Make Mom the honorary Whoozit for the day - with customized Whoonu! Use 3x5 index cards cut in half to create your own Whoonu cards and write down a few of her favorite things. Play the game with Mom, and every time it's her turn, place your homemade cards into the secret envelope! You can even get a few small gifts that relate to each of Mom's favorite things (like flowers, a favorite candy bar, or bubble bath) and give them to her as each customized card comes up."
"Every year my mom would get breakfast in bed. The night before, my brother and I would ask her what she would want for 'her special breakfast' and the next morning we would all bring up the tray with all her cards and gifts that we had made in school. It is a tradition that I hold dear to my heart and one I will definitely carry on when I become a mom."
