Kick off your next family night, start the day with a smile, or make a chore a little more fun with these wacky ideas:
- Close your eyes and see how long you can balance on one foot.
- Try to tie your shoe laces with one hand. Can you do it? How fast? Try racing someone else!
- See how many times you can turn around with a book balanced on your head. How about with your eyes closed?
- Try to write your name with both hands -- at the same time!
- See how many coins you can stack on your elbow. Now see how many you can stack on your forehead. How about on your chin?
- Try to draw a smiley face with the pen or pencil held between your elbows. Now try to draw a family member and see if someone else can guess who it is.
Write the hints below (and any others you want to throw in) on pieces of paper. Fold them up and mix them in a plastic cup. Any time you're ready for a little fun, grab a clue and act it out for everyone to guess.

Give each family member a household item to use as an instrument. March around your house to favorite family tunes on the radio, a CD, or your computer's play list. If you're feeling wonderfully wacky, march your band around the neighborhood and hum or sing a song!
Here are a few instrument ideas to get you started:
- a wooden spoon and a pan to tap
- a box of cereal to shake
- an empty plastic container to pound
- a paper towel roll to make horn noises
This one works great in the car, around the dinner table, or before bedtime. Take turns repeating the phrase, "I know you like _________ more than __________." Fill in the blanks with things you know the person likes more and less. Examples:
- I know you like art more than math.
- I know you like safaris more than submarines.
- I know you like porcupines more than jellyfish.
- I know you like sledding more than swimming.
- I know you like tickles more than pickles.
