Natural Genius This notion of natural genius is inspired in part by the work of Dr. Howard Gardner, who introduced the theory of multiple intelligences in the 1970s.
At the time this new academic theory was revolutionary, although when you think about it, it makes a lot of intuitive sense—there are multiple ways to be smart, even though our society tends to chart academic achievement in terms of verbal-linguistic and logical-mathematical intelligence. Many standardized tests measure these intelligences, and kids are being prepared to succeed at these tests at younger and younger ages, even in preschool.
But Dr. Gardner demonstrates that there are many ways that human beings can demonstrate intelligence, develop, and achieve. His theory outlines eight basic intelligences:
verbal-linguistic
logical-mathematical
visual-spatial
bodily-kinesthetic
musical-rhythmic
interpersonal
intrapersonal
naturalist
If you think about a typical pre-schooler drawing imaginative pictures, racing around a playground, singing songs, telling you what he likes or doesn’t like, pretending to care for a doll, or identifying different kinds of construction equipment, you get a sense of how these different intelligences appear naturally in kids.

Cranium Bloom is a new line of preschool games, books, puzzles, and toys designed to cultivate the full range of your child’s natural abilities. Bloom products include a wide variety of playful activities that encourage kids to Create, Discover, Perform, and Connect.
What Bloom means to us…
The idea of Bloom first took root with us, moms and dads here at Cranium.
We wanted to create preschool products that wouldn't make parents anxious about whether or not their child was achieving the next developmental milestone quickly enough. We wanted to cut through the increasing clamor of interactive chatter and educational promises with a breath of fresh air. After all, we don’t think of learning as something you should have to worry about; we think of it as something that happens organically, through play and through the everyday moments that parents and children share.
We also wanted to encourage development of the whole child, stretching beyond the basic skills to music, movement, self-expression, and imagination. For us, Bloom would be a new way for parents to nurture the natural genius that we believe is inherent in every child.
Using the everyday world as our inspiration and our unique Create-Discover-Perform-Connect development approach as our framework, we craft Bloom products to help preschoolers discover the full range of their natural abilities.

And now we invite you to a world of Bloom moments…
