Rub-a-dub-dub, everybody! Use these Fun Ideas to turn your child's sudsy soak into an opportunity to laugh, play, and connect!
Fill the tub with bubbles and start styling. For starters, try a foamy Mohawk, a bubbly beard, or frothy beehive hairdo. Have fun making up stories for each lathery look you create. How does a kid with a Mohawk talk? What does he like to eat? What happens when his Mohawk washes off?
For wet-and-wild word fun, gather some clean sponges in a variety of colors. Cut the sponges into different shapes, making sure each color and shape has a match. For preschool-age children, you can also draw letters and numbers on the sponges with a waterproof marker, making sure each letter or number has a match. When it's time for a bath, drop them in the water and have your child find the matching pairs.
Roll out the red washcloth for this idea -- sure to be a favorite with your little Star Performer! Use a waterproof marker to draw funny faces on some clean, orphaned socks, fill the tub with bubbles, and create your own tub-side puppet show. With a drum roll, draw back the shower curtain, and let the show begin!
Pick a favorite bath toy or two, such as a rubber ducky, wind-up turtle, or toy submarine. Put the toy in a small paper cup, fill the cup with water, and freeze overnight. When bath time comes, peel off the paper cup and place your ice-age buddies in the water. Pretend you've discovered the ice block floating by the North Pole. Watch as the ice melts and your prehistoric rubber ducky is set free .
Remove the label from a clean, empty plastic drink bottle. Keep the cap screwed on tight and have an adult carefully cut an oval hole down the length of the bottle on one side. Ta-da! The bottle is transformed into a bath canoe! Drop in a favorite bath toy to man the ship and set the craft afloat! Pretend it's a scientific expedition, maneuver through the bubble islands, and report your tub findings as you go.
