Hasbro Factories Hasbro owns and operates two factories - one in Massachusetts, United States and another in Waterford, Ireland. Hasbro's factories have experienced human resources teams and health and safety experts dedicated to implementing Hasbro's Code of Conduct and Global Business Ethics Principles, and regular monitoring occurs to ensure compliance with these standards.
Our management team and workforce are trained on our ethics principles and safety standards to ensure a full understanding of our policies and procedures. We also have secure channels for workers to report any instances of non-compliance through our ethics hotline and human resources teams.
Third Party Factories
The majority of our toys and games are manufactured by contracted vendors. While Hasbro does not have direct control over these contracted factories, Hasbro requires all vendors, regardless of ownership structure, to conduct business in accordance with international labor standards. Close to 80% of the world’s toys are made in China and the majority –including the majority of Hasbro products– come from factories in Guangdong Province in southern China. In addition, we have some toys and games made in other countries in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
Hasbro’s extensive monitoring program, using a combination of its own employees and external auditors (including approved ICTI auditors), is designed to ensure that our safety and manufacturing ethics standards are being adhered to, and that third party factories appreciate the depth of our commitment in these areas. Details of Hasbro’s communication and auditing programs are described in further detail in the Implementation Process section.
Licensed Factories
Factories making Hasbro licensed products must also meet Hasbro’s Global Business Ethics Principles. Licensees are required to disclose factory names and addresses and provide us with regular social compliance audit information demonstrating compliance with key standards prior to shipping. Where necessary or appropriate to verify compliance, we supplement this information with our own audits, or audits by third-party inspectors. Licensed product is most often not toys and games, but may be consumer products such as household items, apparel, footwear, electronics, beauty aids, food, sporting goods, or books. Regardless of product type, factories making these products are required to meet local laws and our Global Business Ethics Principles.
